Happy New Year!

 
This Thursday, January 20, we're kicking off the 2011 Third Thursday Lecture Series, at the Mandarin Community Club, 12447 Mandarin Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32223.   The doors will open at 6:30 and the lecture will begin at 7:00 p.m.  

 

This partnership program with the Mandarin Community Club has been very successful.  We hope see continuing growth of this interesting and exciting lecture series.

A Village Called Jacksonville
 

This month's lecture will be conducted by Jacksonville Historian and Mandarinite Emily Lisska. Emily will speak about the early history of Jacksonville.

 

Emily has been the executive director of the Jacksonville Historical Society since 1996. She is the co-producer and host of the monthly The Jacksonville History Show on local television. She was editor and a principal contributor to of the Jacksonville Family Album.  She also edited the award-winning book, The Great Fire of 1901; she is editor of the Jacksonville Historical Society's Historical Quarterly; and she is currently spearheading a facsimile publication of the 1925 book, The History of Jacksonville and Vicinity.
